How to Clean and Store Your Lilac Menstrual Cup
Share

A consistent menstrual cup cleaning and storage routine helps you look after a reusable cup. Start with the instructions supplied with your Lilac cup, and keep those instructions with your period-care essentials. This guide brings together Lilac's published care information and explains the separate Lilac Sterilizer accessory.

Begin with the Supplied Instructions
Your Lilac cup comes with a Quick Start Guide. Follow it for preparation, cleaning and sterilization, including the method and timing. Wash your hands before handling the cup and use clean equipment. Do not assume instructions for a different cup, disc or accessory apply to your Lilac product.
During your period, empty and clean the cup as directed and sooner when your flow requires. Lilac describes up to 12 hours of wear depending on flow; “up to” is a maximum under the product guidance, not a target that every user should wait for.
Cleaning Between Uses and Between Cycles
Plan where you will empty and clean the cup at home, at work and when travelling. Keep your product guide available so you can check which cleaning methods are suitable. Follow the instructions for cleaning between uses and for the sterilization routine before or after your period. If you are unsure about a cleaner or method, ask Lilac before using it.
What Is the Lilac Menstrual Cup Sterilizer?
The Lilac Menstrual Cup Sterilizer is a foldable accessory with a 170 ml capacity. The product page describes compatibility with menstrual cups and discs and a compact design for storage and travel. It is sold separately from the cup unless a product offer expressly says otherwise.
The Lilac Sterilizer product guide describes placing the cup inside, adding boiling water until the cup is submerged, soaking for 2–3 minutes, then allowing the water to cool before removing and drying the cup. Follow the supplied User Guide and handle hot water carefully. This describes Lilac's published soaking routine; do not substitute it for a different manufacturer's required method or duration.
The sterilizer box lists one Lilac Sterilizer, one User Guide and Lilac box packaging. Check its product page for current price and availability.
Dry Before You Store
After cleaning, allow the cup to dry before putting it away. Lilac supplies a carry pouch with the cup, and the FAQ recommends storage with air circulation. Choose a clean, dry place between periods. Avoid trapping a damp cup in an airtight container. Keep the pouch clean as part of the same routine.
How Long Is a Lilac Cup Reusable?
The Lilac Menstrual Cup is reusable for up to 10 years with proper cleaning, sterilization and care according to its instructions. Inspect it regularly and replace it sooner if it becomes damaged or deteriorates. A reusable lifespan does not remove the need for cleaning or checking the condition of the product.
Build a Practical Period-Care Kit
Keep your cup, carry pouch and guide together. If you use the Lilac Sterilizer, keep its User Guide accessible too. Before travel, plan access to clean water and a suitable place to carry out the instructed routine. A familiar setup is easier to maintain than trying a new cleaning method away from home.
